Acceptable use
Pageteer is for reading the public web. This is a summary; the Acceptable Use Policy is what applies.
Not allowed
- Logging in, checking out, creating or operating accounts, or submitting forms. The API has no form-submission or typing feature; page actions are read-only (scroll, wait, "Load more"-style clicks) and refuse form fields, submit buttons, login forms and links to other sites.
- Interacting with CAPTCHAs or bot checks, by any means. A CAPTCHA ends the request.
- Banking and financial account portals, government service logins, healthcare patient portals, webmail, password managers and payment checkouts. These are denylisted and refused with
403 forbidden_target. - Private, internal or local network addresses.
- Harvesting personal data beyond publicly listed business contact details.
- Overloading sites, evading a site's explicit blocks of you, or anything illegal.
Enforcement
These rules are enforced in the API and double-checked by the rendering engine. We watch for abuse signals such as spikes against a single host. Abuse leads to suspension; request logs (URL, status, credits) are kept for 30 days.
You are responsible for complying with the terms of the sites you fetch and the laws that apply to you.
